I Found Some Great New Catholic Music

I know its hard to find good and original Catholic music, but I just got some by singer/songwriter Donna Cori Gibson.

She takes prayers from the Saints, the Church, and word-for-word from Scripture and sets them to contemporary music to make learning easy.  She also sings the rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and a song for each station of the cross.

You can get FREE downloads of some of her songs at www.donnacorigibson.com/FreeDownload1.html.  Give them a listen while they are still available.  Its inspiring.

Moments

Some people have asked me "Why the 4 A's?" (Anyone, Anything, Anytime, Anywhere).....

My answer.....Easy I love shooting, I love capturing the next "perfect moment" no matter if that moment is something as simple as a bird sitting on the pier at Huntington Beach, a smile when a child opens his gifts on a birthday, a Alumni at a reunion when they see a friend for the first time in ??? # of years.....And yes even that moment when a couple says those two magic word "I DO".

You see photography is more about the work involved. It's more about the camera (settings, type, lenses, etc....) It's about the MOMENTS! And yes it may take me longer to complete one job over another.... The reason....? I want to make YOUR MOMENTS SPECIAL and PERFECT......!

For YOU have allowed me the honor to be a part of a moment in your life.
Thank-you......For that privilege.

Progress and Family :)

I find it hard and yet amazing that after being officially in business for just under four years...And doing this and other things on the side for the last 20+ years, in addition to, being behind the camera since I was a child.  That I have finally put up my own website to not only showcase my work; but also to attract new clients and potential friends.  I say potential friends because I do my best to treat ALL of my clients as friends.  And eventually with enough contact between myself and the client(s) I have only this to say....Clients become Friends and eventually Friends become like family.
You only have to see the joy in a clients eyes as they see the time and effort that you put in to make their project special and perfect for their needs to understand how a new and/or repeating client can go from being a Client to being Considered Family.
People don't realize how happy that makes me.  :)  So the next time you are looking for a service where YOU my perspective client will be treated like family....  Please give me a call; and I will do my best to help or advise you in any way, shape or form that I am able to.  Also if you are having a bad day and just need a ear to chew on and/or shoulder to lean on....remember I am here...You are not only my client....you are also my friends and family.

Posing Bird

This bird was just sitting on the Huntington Beach pier.  It stayed in place for about 30 minutes just posing for me.  I was able to get around 20 shots of it; some of them as close as one foot away.  What a patient bird.  :)  This print in addition to my others are for sale.  Please let me know if you are interested.

A review from a friend on Welcome Home

Several months ago I did a collage photo of The Basilica at Mission San Juan Capistrano for a Advanced Photoshop class.  Little did I know that it would catch the eye of a respected food photographer and blog writer..... Paulette Le Pore Motzko The following is a link to her blog Photo's That Inspire Words and the article she did on myself and that picture.

Sara's Cats

My sister Sara has always been known for her love of cat's.....And she has had MANY over the years.  So for Christmas, as her gift, I got all the pictures I could of her cats and put this together for her.
It shows most of the cats she has had throughout her life.  All of the cutting out of the cats and the script were done by hand using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop.

If you would like a project done for you, your friends or family of the special family members (Pets) that come in and out of our lives please feel free to contact me at olvmstudios@gmail.com

The Origin of the Twelve Days of Christmas

A facebook friend of mine Alexander Vargo.....Posted the following in his notes...I just wanted to share it with you.

The Origin of the Twelve Days of Christmas
You're all familiar with the Christmas song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" I think. To most it's a delightful nonsense rhyme set to music. But it had a quite serious purpose when it was written.
It is a good deal more than just a repetitious melody with pretty phrases and a list of strange gifts.
Catholics in England during the period 1558 to 1829, when Parliament finally emancipated Catholics in England, were prohibited from ANY practice of their faith by law - private OR public. It was a crime to BE a Catholic.
"The Twelve Days of Christmas" was written in England as one of the "catechism songs" to help young Catholics learn the tenets of their faith - a memory aid, when to be caught with anything in *writing* indicating adherence to the Catholic faith could not only get you imprisoned, it could get you hanged.
The songs gifts are hidden meanings to the teachings of the faith. The "true love" mentioned in the song doesn't refer to an earthly suitor, it refers to God Himself. The "me" who receives the presents refers to every baptized person. The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge which feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, much in memory of the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered thee under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but thou wouldst not have it so..."
The other symbols mean the following:
1 Partridge in a Pear Tree = Jesus Christ, Son of God
2 Turtle Doves = The Old and New Testaments
3 French Hens = Faith, Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues
4 Calling Birds = the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists
5 Golden Rings = The first Five Books of the Old Testament, the "Pentateuch", which gives the history of man's fall from grace.
6 Geese A-laying = the six days of creation
7 Swans A-swimming = the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, the seven sacraments
8 Maids A-milking = the eight beatitudes
9 Ladies Dancing = the nine Fruits of the Holy Spirit
10 Lords A-leaping = the ten commandments
11 Pipers Piping = the eleven faithful apostles
12 Drummers Drumming = the twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle's Creed
